EMPOWERING PARENTS THROUGH PHONICS

Universal Public School organized an insightful Phonics Workshop for Parents on July 3, 2025, at the school campus. The session, conducted by renowned early literacy expert Dr. Padmashree Ballal (Pre-Primary Academic Head), was specially designed for parents of students from Nursery to Grade 2. The workshop witnessed the enthusiastic participation of UPS parents, all eager to understand how they could better support their children’s reading journey at home. The key focus of the workshop was to equip parents with practical strategies and techniques in phonics, enabling them to build a strong literacy foundation for their children. Topics included the importance of phonics in early reading, core principles, and hands-on games and activities to make learning engaging at home.

The response from parents was overwhelmingly positive. One parent shared, "I never knew how phonics worked, but now I feel confident to support my child's reading." Another remarked, "The hands-on activities were really helpful in understanding how to practice phonics with my child." The success of the workshop underscores the school’s commitment to fostering a strong home-school connection and ensuring that parents are empowered partners in their child’s education. Given the enthusiastic response and tangible benefits, the school plans to conduct similar workshops in the future, further strengthening the foundation of early literacy among its students.

Dream It. Believe It. Build It.
